Pakistan: Social Media suspended and Electronic media prevented from live coverage

Islamabad: Most of the social media sites including Facebook, YouTube and Twitter have been suspended and electronic media has been directed to avoid live coverage of the Faizabad’s security operation against the protesters in the area between Islamabad, the capital city and Rawalpindi.

According to the  reports, immediately after the direction, the most of the channels have gone off air their live coverage from operation site in Islamabad and elsewhere.

Pemra notice to stop transmission of faizabad operation's

A policeman was killed and more than 100 people including policemen were injured during the classes between police and protesters.
The protesters were staging a sit-in for the last 19 days ignoring the government’s appeals and court orders to end the protest.
They demanded for resignation of a minister of federal cabinet for his allegedly involvement in changing a section of the country’s law in a religious matter.
