A noted Norwegian intellectual and writer has accused media for spreading hatred against Muslims.

Mr Øyvind Strømmen was giving a lecture on a topic of extremism at Literature House Oslo last Sunday. The lecture was arranged by Norwegian Pakistani literary organisation, “Adbi Sangat Norway” (Literary Friendship Norway). The organisation’s General Secretary Faisal Nawaz Chaudhary introduced his organisation and also talked about the purpose of the gathering.

Criticizing the role of media, the Norwegian intellectual said, by playing negative role the media creates hatred in the society.

He divided the term of extremism in three parts as saying there are three kind of extremists. Beside the Muslims extremists, there could be right wing and left wing extremists.

The writer said, we have to identify powers behind the extremism. We have to find out, how we can combat against the elements which obtain their objectives through extremism?

He added, we don’t see Europe’s records without extremism in the past because history of Europe is full of extremism. We know that how Jews had faced brutalism in Europe?

He further said, It is also open to everybody that how extremists of right and left wings tried to secure their vested interests in 1970s?

A number of Norwegian people including Norwegian Pakistanis attended the lecture.
