Veteran Bollywood Actor Kader Khan Passes Away

Khan was suffering from a protracted illness and had been admitted to a hospital in Toronto a few months ago.

“My dad has left us. He passed away on December 31 at 6 pm as per Canadian time due to prolonged illness. He slipped into coma in the afternoon. He was in the hospital for 16-17 weeks,” his son Sarfaraz told the press.

Khan’s final rites will take place in a cemetery in Toronto later today.

Khan had an illustrious career in Bollywood with his talents spanning not only acting and writing but directing and comedic acts too.

A prolific actor, he performed in over 300 films including Himmatwala, Aaj Ka Daur, Sikka, Hum, Aankhen, Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Coolie No. 1, Saajan Chale Sasural and Dulhe Raja, for which he was nominated for Filmfare’s Best Comedian Award. He wrote dialogues for numerous films in the 70s and 80s, including the Filmfare-winning Angaar and Meri Awaaz Suno.

He is survived by his wife Hajra, son Sarfaraz, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren.
